Who is Shawn Locke?

Writing your own bio is an interesting test of what is really important to the person who’s going to actually read it. I could tell you that I owned my own music business for 22 years or that I used to play the trumpet professionally. I could tell you that I love dogs and kayaking and spending time in nature. But why would you care about any of that? You’re here because you need help with a situation in your life. What you care about is how I can help you..or IF I can help you.

Truthfully, I don’t know if I can help you, but I know that YOU have the knowledge and skills inside you already to fix your own problems. My job, as a coach, is to draw that knowledge and inner wisdom out of you and into your awareness so that you can use it to steer your own ship towards the Island of Your Desires.

Who I am is a person who has personally dealt with a lot of set-backs in life, moved a bunch of times to different cities and had to start life anew and went through his own transformation at mid-life to reclaim his life and his identity. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I did it with very little support from my family or friends so it was a lonely and scary process. I was sure that I would lose everything and everybody along the way and I had to convince myself that I would be ok if that happened because living an authentic life was the only choice I had at that point. I couldn’t keep faking it any longer.

It is my hope that I can help support others who are going through their own challenging time, whether it be a gender transition, a new job or career, a divorce, loss of a loved one, coming out, or some other big scary thing I can’t think of right now. I’d like to be your partner to work out a plan of action to light your way through this dark night. I became a Life Coach because my own Life Coach helped me so much through my life transition and was often the only person I could talk to about what I was going through. I want to offer that kind of support to others so they can also feel less alone and more supported. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community myself I enjoy volunteering with our local PFLAG and helping to plan our Pride event. I also work as a facilitator for PFLAG’s monthly Peer to Peer meetings and get to meet a lot of amazing people who are searching for support in order to live their truest most authentic life. It is truly an honor to be a part of their journey.

I hope you will give me the honor of being part of yours.

Thank you!
Shawn
